Good morning all,

Just found this site and figured I'd say hello. I'm a guitarist who's decided to take the percussion plunge. I did a little research and really liked the sound of the Valter Percussion cajones. About a week ago I ponied up and am eagerly awaiting a "custom" cajon from Valter with his built in pickup system (as well as adjustable soundport and snare adjustment). I have no idea if it shipped, or if he has to build it. I have no idea how long shipping will take from Sweden to VT. I know the last week was tough, and the next week or weeks will be tougher. I ordered the two instructional book/CD's on Cajon that Elderly has. Of course I'm looking for any and all tips tricks and instructionals for a percussive newb.

Anyway, that's me. Thanks for putting up this site, and I look forward to learning from ya's. Of course I'll have pix once the cajon gets to me, and hopefully clips eventually!

Did you buy the Book/CD for 20 bucks? I have been looking for one but not sure what one to buy, please let me know what you think of it. I also found a few at Bayside Press. Thanks

I picked up CAJON - A BOX FULL OF RHYTHM $19.95 and STUDIES FOR CAJON $22.95. They shipped yesterday, so I'm hoping to have them tomorrow or Monday. I also got an email from Valter. My cajon should ship from Sweden today. He's not happy with the sound of the built in mic with his "custom" cajon so he's going to keep tinkering with it... and would I mind taking an upgrade to a big box instead? That's my kind of customer support! Big Box on its way!!

I'll gladly give first impressions once everything is in, but keep in mind I'm a total newb with percussion. My first impressions may not be all that accurate.
